Staying Comfortable in Cold Temperatures at Abby’s Dog Daycare
When temperatures drop in the winter — or rise during the summer — dogs still need exercise, fresh air, and social time in a safe environment. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), prolonged exposure to extreme cold can put dogs at risk for hypothermia and frostbite, especially smaller or short-haired breeds. That’s why at Abby’s Dog Daycare, we prioritize your dog’s wellbeing in every season with a thoughtfully designed space that keeps them safe and comfortable.
Our spacious facility offers fresh-air outdoor play areas along with climate-controlled indoor spaces, giving dogs the freedom to roam in and out throughout the day with their doggy pals. In the winter, we heat our indoor areas to keep pups warm and cozy. When the weather warms up, we keep our indoor spaces cool and comfortable. Dogs can run, explore, and burn energy outside, then head indoors to warm up or cool down whenever they need. They’re grouped by size into Poco, Medio, and Grande play groups so they can socialize and play confidently with appropriate friends in a structured environment.
At ADC, your dog’s happiness and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. Abby’s Dog Daycare is more than just a place to play — it’s a safe, welcoming space where dogs of all sizes can socialize, explore, and thrive year-round in secure indoor and outdoor areas. Sign up online to join our exclusive daycare memberships — choose from 5 days per week, 2 days per week, or our new 1 day per week option — and schedule your free evaluation today at Abby’s Dog Daycare! 🐾

Abby’s Dog Daycare Now Offering a 1-Day-Per-Week Membership
At Abby’s Dog Daycare, we are always looking for ways to better support our dogs and their families. We understand that not every household needs full-time daycare, but many dogs still benefit from structured socialization, exercise, and a consistent routine. That’s why we introduced our 1-Day-Per-Week Membership — a flexible option for families who want the benefits of daycare without committing to multiple days each week. Even one scheduled day of structured play can provide a healthy outlet for energy and reinforce positive habits at home.
Our daycare operates on an exclusive membership model to maintain consistency and quality of care. We are not a drop-in facility. Dogs attend on a set schedule, allowing them to see familiar playmates and staff each week. Every dog is temperament tested prior to joining and placed into one of our tri-size play groups — Poco, Medio, or Grande — to ensure safe, compatible interactions. We offer three structured membership options: 5 Days Per Week — 20 days per month 2 Days Per Week — 9 days per month 1 Day Per Week — 4 days per month
Dogs enjoy spacious indoor and outdoor play areas where they can move freely throughout the day. Our climate-controlled facility is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer to keep pups comfortable year-round. We also follow MCPCA-approved cleaning protocols and use natural foam disinfectant to maintain a clean, healthy environment.
Whether your dog needs consistent weekly structure or just one dedicated day of enrichment, our membership programs are designed to fit a variety of schedules while maintaining the same level of care and oversight. To get started, visit our website to review membership details and complete the online registration form to schedule your FREE evaluation. You can also explore our additional training programs for dogs who would benefit from extra guidance and support. Abby’s Dog Daycare is located at 28 Gorham Street in Chelmsford, MA, and we look forward to welcoming your dog into our program. 🐾

Is Dog Training Too Expensive? What You Should Know Before Getting Started
Many dog owners wonder if professional dog training is too expensive, but the better question is often what you’re actually getting out of it. When training programs are extremely cheap, it usually means the scope of work has been reduced as well. Effective dog training isn’t just about teaching a few commands — it’s about improving behavior, communication, and daily life for both dogs and their families. The goal is to help dogs develop better habits, confidence, and structure so they can succeed both at home and out in the world.
Training programs can vary widely depending on the trainer’s experience, the type of program, and how much hands-on guidance is provided. According to the American Kennel Club, consistency and experienced guidance play a major role in helping dogs build reliable skills and long-term behavioral improvements. Programs that seem inexpensive may involve less time working with the dog or fewer opportunities for real progress, which is why it’s important to understand what goes into professional training.
At Abby’s Dog Daycare, our training programs are designed to support both dogs and their owners — where structure, consistency, and clear communication are the foundation of everything we do. Our trainer brings over 30 years of experience working with dogs, is certified through Animal Behavior College, and is recognized by the AKC as a Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. We offer flexible options depending on your dog’s needs, including puppy classes, group classes, private training sessions, and 1-, 2-, and 3-week board and train programs. If you’ve been thinking about training for your dog, take a look at our programs on our website and see which option might be the right fit.

Is Your Dog Boredat Home?
Even well-loved dogs can experience boredom when their days lack structure, interaction, and purposeful activity. Dogs thrive on routine and consistent social engagement. According to the American Kennel Club, regular socialization and structured environments help support healthy behavior and emotional well-being in dogs (American Kennel Club). When dogs know what to expect and have a positive outlet for their energy, they’re more balanced, confident, and fulfilled.
At Abby’s Dog Daycare, our exclusive membership-based program is designed to create that consistency. Because we operate by membership, dogs see familiar faces each week — both human and canine — which helps build trust, routine, and a true sense of community. Every dog is temperament tested before joining to ensure safe, balanced playgroups. Pups are placed into our tri-size clubs — Poco, Medio, and Grande — so they’re always interacting with compatible playmates. Our spacious indoor and outdoor play areas allow dogs to roam freely between fresh air and our climate-controlled facility, providing year-round comfort. We also follow MCPCA-approved cleaning protocols and use natural foam disinfectant to maintain a clean, healthy space.
Our membership options — 5 days per week, 2 days per week, or 1 day per week — allow you to choose the level of structure that fits your schedule while giving your dog something consistent to look forward to. This isn’t drop-in chaos; it’s structured, intentional daycare built around enrichment and community.

Daylight Saving Time Is Here — and Your Dog Feels It Too
Daylight Saving Time arrives every March, and while humans may only notice losing an hour of sleep, dogs often feel the effects much more strongly. Dogs rely heavily on routine and internal body clocks, and even small schedule changes can disrupt sleep patterns, energy levels, and behavior. Shifts in daylight can affect when dogs feel alert, hungry, playful, or overstimulated, which is why many owners notice increased restlessness, zoomies, or changes in focus during this time of year.
The American Kennel Club explains that changes in daylight and schedules can affect a dog’s sleep cycle, appetite, and energy levels, which may lead to increased vocalization, difficulty settling, or decreased focus. These behaviors are often mistaken for disobedience, but they’re actually signs of temporary stress as a dog’s body adjusts to new environmental cues. Experts emphasize that maintaining predictable routines and providing structured activity can help dogs transition more smoothly during time changes like Daylight Saving Time.
At Abby’s Dog Daycare, our training and care team is deeply focused on helping both dogs and their pet parents navigate these seasonal changes with confidence. Our lead trainer brings over 30 years of hands-on experience, specializing in building trust, structure, and emotional regulation through thoughtful, individualized training. Whether a dog needs help adjusting to routine changes, building confidence, or developing better focus, our team works closely with pet parents to create realistic, supportive plans that fit each dog’s needs — because successful training doesn’t just support the dog, it strengthens the bond between dog and owner. Join the pack! We’re more than a daycare — we’re your dog’s second home. Schedule your FREE evaluation today
